SOARING SEAHAWKS!

Esther Huggins was selected as a National Semi-Finalist in the 2011 Broadcom Masters Competition, a program of Society for Science and the Public.
Her "Materials Engineering" project earned SGC a set of science career textooks through the STEM program. Taylor DeRossett (gr.7) has been published on Teen Ink. Her novel was written for Mrs. Sexton's Interactive Media class for the NaNoWriMo project. More details on the gallery page... Students in Mrs. Sexton's sixth grade Interactive Media class worked with Jean Anderson for next month's National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Ms. Anderson, a municipal liaison from Richmond, helped students get geared up for writing their novel in November. Students learned about the NaNoWriMo contest, navigated the contest website, and used manipulatives to inspire ideas for their writing. Check out the Gallery link for more details...
Tyra Sadler (gr.7) has won 1st place in the division for the Hampton Parade Poster Contest. She will be receiving Chic-fil-A once a week for a year, $50 savings bond from Old Point National Bank, and a $50 Discovery gift card.
